Sketches

These are my failed attempts in developing the "blue rabbit". At the time, I was focused more on "how I could best represent trauma" than "how do I prevent it in the future".
Early Version "semi-realistic", discover connection
1. pre-implementation: "actual" blue rabbit

Process of discovery through realism. High concentration of physical attribute of rabbit: the innocent yet intense glare, furry ear, etc.

2. "Peter" the blue rabbit: physical appearance 75 percent (nose, eye brows, lips, wrinkles)

Me becoming the "blue rabbit". Historical moment that I'm finally free to grumble about small problems. Haven't yet touched on transitioning others' into the same "phase".
3. "???" rabbit: no longer the protagonist

Others as ??? rabbit (to be updated)
Transitioning:
my friend "Jack"
National Geographic + Popular streaming platform

"Rabbit found dead outside of Las vegas"

"Birds fighting for territory"

Reflection
"If I were a rabbit" is an investigation/self-reflection on how "traits" of masculinity are forced upon this generation "unwillingly" through popular media; in addition, ways one could "transform" masculinity into the most "ideal" state: "the blue rabbit". The series utilizes information gathered from podcasts, streaming platforms, zoo visits, books on animal, and artists specialized in revisiting trauma in relation to history. The series promote the idea that animals are the most "perfect' existence: the pureness in expression, relentless pursuit of happiness and fulfillment; also, animals resemble every trait "missing" from a modernized man that is angry, ambitious, cold hearted, and overly self driven. The paintings use animals as characters to depict specific moments from the "high school" era. The elimination of using any recognizable figure is my attempt of "embracing" trauma: to appreciate trauma as future references and prevention of similar situations from happening. Finally, the solidification of "blue rabbit" represents the most ideal form that is happy, expressive and loving (completely opposing the societal standards on men). It leads directly into my next series "Finally a rabbit" hence unit 2.
